Barocal’s founder, Professor Xavier Moya, has been named a 2024 Breakthrough Energy Fellow. The programme recognises individuals working on early-stage technologies with the potential to play a meaningful role in the shift to net-zero.
Founded by Bill Gates and supported by a global network of climate and energy experts, the Breakthrough Energy Fellows programme provides support beyond funding. It offers a structured pathway for researchers and entrepreneurs to bring complex, high-risk innovations out of the lab and into real-world settings.
Alongside R&D support, Fellows receive access to commercialisation advisors, technical expertise, and direct connections to Breakthrough Energy’s network of partners and investors. The Fellows programme will support Barocal’s work as it moves towards commercial readiness and wider application.
The 2024 cohort includes 25 Fellows working across a range of sectors.
