At ISH Frankfurt 2025, Barocal took part in the Advanced Materials panel organised by VDZ – Wirtschaftsvereinigung Gebäude und Energie e.V. The session brought together companies developing innovative approaches to cooling and heating, such as Nanolop (phase change materials), BlueHeart Energy (thermoacoustic heat pumps) and Barocal.
Florian Schabus, Barocal’s Chief Commercial Officer, contributed to the discussion that focused on the role of advanced materials in decarbonising heating and cooling. Topics ranged from technology readiness and cost considerations to integration with existing infrastructure and the policy frameworks needed to support commercial adoption.
The conversation made clear that while the technologies differ, many of the challenges and opportunities are shared. From materials science to system design, collaboration across disciplines will be key to accelerating progress in the sector. Panels like this one are a welcome opportunity to exchange perspectives with others working on complementary solutions.
Many thanks to VDZ and the ISH organisers for highlighting the importance of materials innovation for novel heating and cooling solutions!
