Our founder Prof. Xavier Moya and the Cambridge Research team around him are recognised as international leaders in the field of caloric materials. Xavier’s pioneering work in multiple areas – magnetocaloric, elastocaloric and electrocaloric materials – led him to realise that solid barocaloric materials were the answer to the industry’s need. It then took over a decade of research at one of the world’s top materials science laboratories to discover a broad library of high-performance materials, and then multiple generations of system designs to ensure this incredible material realised its potential. That potential is to enable the industry to be both technically and commercially successful in meeting fast-growing demand, and to do it in a way safe for the environment. This is underpinned by several publications in high-impact journals like Nature or Science.
